Antony Kitchener

Antony is a freelance press photographer and photojournalist based in Wellington, New Zealand. In April 2010, he completed the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) photojournalism course in Sheffield, England. A selection of his images won the Student Images of the Year for Excellence in Journalism award 2010. His work has been published in the Derby Telegraph, Scarborough Evening News, and the South London Press. Recent work has been published through the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA), Unlimited magazine, Kapiti Observer, The Wellingtonian, The Dominion Post, and regularly in Fishhead magazine. Antony has also worked for a number of commercial clients including the New Zealand Red Cross, English Language Partners New Zealand, and Craft 2.0, among others. His images of the April 2009 G20 protests in London have recently been exhibited in Melbourne's Federation Square as part of a project on documentary photography and the photo-essay. With his background in engineering and environmental science, he is particularly interested in photographing social and humanitarian issues in the tradition of reportage photography.
